What is Education Corrector?
Education Corrector is a one-of-a kind comprehensive review and analysis of up to 3 years of both the special and regular education records of a child who has been identified with, or is being tested to determine whether they meet the criteria for having an educational disability. Its developer, Toni Saunders, has over 30 years of experience in special education law, due to having to get her oldest daughter, who is diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, through her educational career.
The analysis has been used successfully for nearly 20 years on approximately 2000 children. It was designed to be the most detailed report for parents, guardians, and other entities who work with children with special needs. It ensures that you understand the child’s file, as well as help you work with the team to create an appropriate IEP or 504 Plan that you are confident in, and are willing to sign.
You need us if…
Now that you know what Education Corrector is and does, you may need some help deciding when the right time to use our service is. We have listed the top scenarios in which we usually get asked to do a records analysis below. If you feel like your current situation mirrors any of them, we encourage you to get one today, and give your child the best future possible!
You are tired of going to an Individual Education Program (IEP) team meeting and not understanding what is being said while hoping your child will be able to make effective progress with what is being proposed.
You don’t understand the evaluation scores that determine exactly what your child needs and more importantly, why they needed it.
You don’t know how to analyze the information the district is presenting at the meeting to decide your child’s future.
You feel intimidated at the meeting because they are the professionals and you do not feel like you have the knowledge to contribute or do not know how to respond to their questions.
What the analysis Teaches You
According to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Reauthorized in 2004:
“The purpose of this law is to ensure that all children with disabilities have available to them a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) that emphasizes special education and related services designed to meet the unique needs and prepare them for further education, employment and independent living, and to ensure that the rights of the children with disabilities and parents of such children are protected.”
By getting your child’s records analyzed, you will learn everything you need to know about their needs and what knowledge you can contribute to your child’s education. You are the only person on the team who truly cares if your child graduates with a diploma, or is provided a vocational education that will allow them to access a future and that will allow them to contribute to society even if they stay in school until their 22nd birthday.
The diagnoses, according to the records, and may suggest more testing to rule out other possible diagnoses giving you an explanation of why.
The presentations of the disability. Specifically, what the child does because of having the disability.
Examples: impulsivity, behavioral disorders, and poor social skills.
It provides a review of all the documents given. Telling what the important factors are from each report that explain the child’s disability.
It is enhanced by charts and diagrams, where applicable.
It tells you if other evaluations are warranted what they are and why.
It compares IEP’s from year to year and provides information that explains whether the current IEP or 504 is written for the child to make effective progress.
We are able to determine this information by analyzing IEP’s or 504 Plans, evaluations, behavior documentation, meeting minutes, report cards, teacher’s notes, progress reports, state-mandated testing results that predetermine whether or not a child is making effective progress according to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), laws.
Everything above is summarized utilizing the interpretation of the laws that pertain to each individual case. The results are a blueprint of the child’s learning needs and what changes are needed going forward.
For English Language Learners
We have added the evaluation rights as they relate to fairness and equity in testing tools and interpreting the results as it pertains to the child’s English proficiency. Including the parents’ proficiency in English and access to an interpreter during team meetings and question whether translated documents were made available. The documents from Education Corrector will be translated if the language is available and requested.
We will make every effort to translate the analysis into your requested language. You may request your language during the order process
